Critical Beans is a get-together organised by PhotoIreland in collaboration with Fotomuseum Antwerpen (FOMU) where visitors can enjoy strong coffee and urgent conversations around contemporary art. Each international speaker shares a brief insight on their current work and preoccupations, driving the focus of the morning session in rapid-fire propositions that are opened to the audience.
At the event, PhotoIreland and FOMU will present the latest release of OVER Journal issue 6 and Trigger #7: Ocean through conversations with the contributors, who are invited to share their latest projects and cultural concerns, and thoughts.
The get-together is followed by a tour of the Centre Culturel Irlandais premises. Visitors can additionally enjoy the current exhibition ‘Portrait of an Irish collector’ presented as part of the PhotoSaintGermain festival, organised in collaboration with the Irish Museum of Modern Art, presenting a selection of photographs from the collection of David Kronn.

11:05am PhotoIreland introduces OVER Journal issue 6, presenting the themes discussed by the artists and contributors.
11:10am FOMU – Museum of Photography (Antwerp) presents Trigger #7: Ocean. Submerge yourself in the publication with guest editor Irene Solé Quevedo, followed by a 15-minute proposition by curator and writer Raquel Villar-Pérez, exploring what it might mean for photography to listen more closely to the ocean, and what new ways of thinking and working with images this might open up.
