PhotoIreland has invited Clodagh Assata Boyce, Nathalie Herschdorfer, Seok Jaehyun, and Tim Clark, to contribute to the selection process of the 10th FUTURES Talent Call for artists. The opportunity is open to include Irish and UK practitioners with the deadline is 6pm Sunday 27th November 2026.
Clodagh Assata Boyce is a cultural practitioner based in Dublin. Influenced by Black feminist praxis, their curatorial and artistic projects challenge extractive logics by turning towards opacity and interdependence as strategies of resistance. Their practice spans film programming, performance, writing, commissioning, exhibition-making and archival work.
Clodagh’s curatorial work has been featured at Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival, PS² Belfast and Outburst Queer Arts Festival. They have presented work at FILET London and Contemporary Irish Arts Centre Los Angeles. Clodagh has recently developed projects with Studio Museum in Harlem and Kunstverein Aughrim.
Nathalie Herschdorfer is an author, curator, art and photography historian. She is Director at Photo Elysée, Lausanne, Switzerland.
Across her curatorial and publishing work, she has examined subjects including fashion photography, representations of the body, photographic memory, and the changing role of photography in contemporary visual culture. Her books include Afterwards, Coming into Fashion, The Thames & Hudson Dictionary of Photography, Body: The Photography Book, and, most recently, This is Photography: The First 200 Years.
Seok Jaehyun is a Korean curator, photographer, and educator based in Daegu, South Korea. He is Artistic Director of the 2027 Daegu Photo Biennale and Director of ArtSpace LUMOS, an independent space dedicated to contemporary photography and international exchange.
A co-initiator and co-curator of the inaugural Daegu Photo Biennale in 2006, he also served as Artistic Director of the Busan International Photo Festival from 2020 to 2024. He has curated numerous international photography exhibitions and led the Climate Change Photo Project 2022-26.
Seok has served internationally as a curator, portfolio reviewer, juror, and nominator, collaborating with organisations and programs including Rencontres d’Arles, FotoFest Houston, Singapore International Photography Festival, and the Leica Oskar Barnack Award. His practice focuses on supporting photographers and fostering international dialogue through photography.
Tim Clark is Editor in Chief of 1000 Words and served as one of the artistic directors for Fotografia Europea in Reggio Emilia, Italy, from 2021 to 2026. As an independent curator, he has also been involved in a wide range of projects including: curatorial advisor for Photo London Discovery 2022 and 2023; adjunct curator on ‘Masculinities: Liberation through Photography’ at the Barbican Centre, London, an exhibition which travelled to Gropius-Bau, Berlin, Les Rencontres d’Arles and FOMU Antwerp between 2020 and 2022; and guest curator at the Ci.CLO Bienal 2021 with the exhibition ‘The Horizon is Moving Nearer’ for the Portuguese Center of Photography, Porto.
1000 Words is an online magazine and publishing platform dedicated to contemporary photographic culture. Founded in 2008, it commissions exhibition and photobook reviews, essays and interviews in response to the visual culture of our time. Its editorial mission is to explore the evolving possibilities of photography while fostering dialogue around contemporary practice, curation, criticism, and theory.
The jury is tasked with identifying contemporary, lens-based artists, regardless of curriculum or experience, who have demonstrated dedication and serious intention in their practice. We strongly recommend for each applicant to review the practice of the previous Irish artists participating in the platform to understand this call better, as much as to find out more about the FUTURES Photography Platform.
