Co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union, Futures is a platform focused on amplifying emerging talents in photography in Europe. Since its inception, PhotoIreland has been the platform’s Irish member and has put forward 15 Irish artists so far to be included in the platform. The submission to this opportunity is free. It is open to all Irish and Ireland-based artists, including those Irish artists practicing abroad, working in photography at any level, who feel their practice is at a suitable stage to avail of this opportunity. Bright Room Sessions are a set of monthly meetings conceived to open an opportunity for creatives of all levels and practices to come together, share their work, and enjoy a range of feedback. Organised by image-maker, researcher, and educator, David Flood in collaboration with PhotoIreland, Bright Room Sessions addresses the need by active practitioners for informal and frequent peer critique at a time of networking challenges. The event revolves around 5 photographers presenting their work-in-progress. After each presentation, the floor is open for discussion, suggestions, and critical responses. Bright Room Sessions is open to all photographers practicing on the island of Ireland as well as Irish photographers practicing abroad. We encourage practitioners from all backgrounds and levels to apply to present and discuss work-in-progress.

The editorial team of OVER Journal welcomes submissions of essays by any individuals or collaborators engaged in critical and cultural inquiry that address key issues around Photography and Visual Culture, including those deriving from other disciplines and interests. We are particularly interested in papers that aim to bring attention to critical positions or debates that can benefit and bring about social change, open new cultural dialogues, or reimagine new futures for Photography.
Submissions for Papers are accepted twice a year, with the current period of 1-28 February now open. Papers submitted are considered towards the upcoming two issues.
