Vacancy: Front of House & Retail Staff for PhotoIreland’s International Centre for the Image

PhotoIreland is opening an exciting new position for two part-time team members to join our team at the International Centre for the Image — candidates can find out more information about this announcement here. This is a part-time position with flexible hours, which includes evening and weekend work.

As part of the Front of House & Retail team, you will play an integral part in creating a memorable and welcoming experience for visitors and artists, daily upkeep of the FOH and retail area, providing a welcoming environment and courteous point of contact for all visitors, as well as assisting with the cultural programme, and liaison with Irish and international artists and professionals.

Location

The position is based at PhotoIreland’s new venue, the International Centre for the Image in North Docklands, Dublin, being required to assist and liaise with our staff at The Library Project in Temple Bar. 

During the training period, the candidate will begin their position in The Library Project, before moving into the International Centre for the Image.

Basic Details

  • Part-time position of at least 3 days a week, including weekend and some evening work
  • The deadline for applications is 13th April 2025
  • Interviews will be held the week of the 14th April. The position will start on 22nd April
  • The pay is €14/hour
  • The position includes a probation period of 3 months.

Main Duties

  • Providing hospitality and welcoming visitors and artists, delivering consistent and high-quality customer and visitor service
  • Dealing with the public, suppliers, artists, attending to queries in an efficient and courteous manner
  • Ensuring a smooth day-to-day running of all operations
  • Being aware of the events calendar and assisting with the organisation and preparations of the cultural programme
  • Maintaining the front of house and public areas, including tidiness, security, safety of materials, and provision of adequate and updated information
  • Providing refreshments and hospitality services during events and launches that will take place during the day and evening, including light cleaning
  • Undertaking administrative duties, including bookings, ticketing, data collection, email and phone duties
  • Processing retail operations online and offline related to the bookshop and artwork sales, assisting with the bookshop through merchandising, stocking, and other retail activities as directed by management.
  • Actively assisting with bookshop and event sales and responding with ideas to strengthen income generation
  • Assisting with communications and social media, and local distribution of flyers

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in front of house, hospitality, and/or retail
  • Previous cash-handling experience
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative and problem solving skills
  • Motivated, organised, reliable, with a proactive and positive attitude
  • Excellent timekeeping and ability to multitask
  • Knowledge and appreciation of contemporary arts and culture will be valued
