
Vacancy: Part-Time Assistant Technician for PhotoIreland’s International Centre for the Image
PhotoIreland is opening a new position for a part-time team member to join our team at the International Centre for the Image. This is a part-time position of 3 days a week, with flexible hours, which includes some evening and weekend work.

The selected candidate will progress into a full-time position in 2026.
As part of the team, you will play an integral part in preparing and maintaining quality exhibitions and events, general upkeep of the space, ensuring efficient day to day running of all equipment and installations. Throughout your employment. you will work alongside all other PhotoIreland staff and in collaborations with a number of art professionals.
Location
The position is based at PhotoIreland’s new venue, the International Centre for the Image in North Docklands, Dublin 1.
Basic Details
- Part-time position of 3 days a week, to include some weekend and evening work.
- Deadline for applications is 6pm 13th April 2025.
- Interviews will be held the week of the 14th April.
- The position will start on 22nd April.
- Salary: €19,968 (€33,280 pro rata).
- The position includes a probation period of 4 months.
The selected candidate will progress into a full-time position in 2026. We aim to grow the team into further career opportunities within the company, based on the candidate’s demonstrated committed, reliable, and professional performance and interest. The successful candidate will be supported with external training and upskilling workshops.
Main Duties
- Support with planning of exhibitions and events, including layout, materials, logistics.
- Installation, maintenance, and deinstallation of exhibitions and events.
- Maintenance of storage areas, workshop, studios, and equipment to the highest standard, ensuring the smooth running of all operations.
- Maintenance and organisation of materials, equipment, and tools, ensuring their safe storage and use.
- Setting and maintaining the highest standards in all areas of support outlined above.
The successful candidate will have
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and with artists, and independently.
- A proactive approach to addressing technical challenges and excellent problem solving skills.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, attention to detail is a must.
- Prior work experience in equivalent roles, such as in galleries, theatres, or other, working with installations, including technical proficiency with AV equipment.
- Flexibility of hours as some evening and weekend work may be required due to the nature of exhibitions and cultural events.
