À Propos du Flâneur is a retrospective exhibition of the Flaneur – New Urban Narratives project, led by Procur.arte, of which PhotoIreland was the Irish partner. The retrospective exhibition features a number of artists from previous editions. Three of the artists included were nominated by PhotoIreland, producing work through a residency exchange programme: Esther Teichmann (DE), Martina Cleary (IE), and Rik Moran (UK), as well as Róisín White (IE) who was selected through an open call process.

The Flâneur project is founded on a principle of artistic intervention in public space, based on contemporary creation with a focus in photography. The project challenges artists to produce new readings about the territory, taking as a starting point the concept of ̂ and as a context a certain region understood as a social kaleidoscope in constant mutation. The first two editions of the project (2015-2017 and 2021-2022) generated a vast photographic collection with works by 32 artists, a multidimensional portrait of today’s Europe.

À Propos du Flâneur presents, for the first time together, this pictorial “fresco”, calling for a curatorial reinterpretation of these images and promoting a renewed look at these European.

The artists participating in the Flaneur – New Urban Narratives project between 2015-2022 were: Martina Cleary (IE), Cristina de Middel (ES), David Severn (UK), Kajal Nisha Patel (UK), Rut Blees Luxemburg (DE), Giacomo Brunelli (IT), Virgilio Ferreira (PT), Marcello Bonfanti (IT), Dougie Wallace (UK), Augusto Brázio (PT), Tom Hunter (UK), Liz Hignley (UK), António Julio Duarte (PT), Sergiy Lebediskiy (UA), Mariusz Forrecki (PL), Henrik Duncker (PL), Sonia Hamza (FR), Jens Masmann (DE), Rik Moran (UK), Esther Teichmann (DE), Dima Gavrysh (UA), Alexander Gronsky (LV), Jonas Feige (DE), Alex F.
