This year the FUTURES Annual Event will be hosted by Fotograf Zone in Prague. Artists and international curators will meet from 3 to 5 October in the frame of the Fotograf Zone Festival, within an inspiring and dynamic environment.
The three-day program will include the opening of two exhibitions to the general public: Metamorphosis, showcasing for the first time the projects by the FUTURES artists selected for this year annual theme, and Ties That Bind, whose journey comes to and end in Prague, after travelling to Porto and Zagreb. Both exhibitions have been curated by Světlana Malina and are part of the Fotograf Zone Festival 2025 with the topic TALK TOGETHER.
As publishing partner this year, PhotoIreland will launch the special FUTURES edition of OVER Journal. This issue of OVER is a collaborative editorial project devised by four member organisations of FUTURES—the European Photography Platform: Fotograf Zone, Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Centre, Centre Photographique Rouen Normandie, and PhotoIreland.
Over the course of the event, FUTURES artists will have the opportunity to take part in dedicated workshops facilitated by Petra Hůlová, Amak Mahmoodian, and Peter Watkins and Tereza Zelenková, focusing on building narratives, the role of titles and annotations, and the relationship between photography and algorithms, as well as portfolio reviews with international experts, feedback sessions and networking moments.
The Annual Event is exclusively for FUTURES artists. The artists nominated by PhotoIreland in 2025 are Henri Kisielewski, Nazlı Yıldırım, Shane Hynan, Tudor Rhys Etchells, and Zoe Hamill. Find out more about past and present PhotoIreland nominated artists at futures-photography.com
PhotoIreland and FUTURES
Futures Photography Platform is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, and PhotoIreland is the Irish partner of the platform.
Since 2017, PhotoIreland is the Irish member of the European Platform of Photography FUTURES, alongside 21 other partner organisations. FUTURES organises a series of events across Europe within each of its member countries. The aim of the platform is to pool the resources and talent programmes of leading photography institutions across Europe in order to increase the capacity, mobility and visibility of its selected artists. All participant members of the platform put forward every year 5 artists to be promoted nationally, and that alongside all the other selected artists gather at the FUTURES Annual Event, hosted by members. It is there where they enjoy a series of professional development events conceived to further their careers and promote their work. The artists are also promoted online, in print, participate in awards, and enjoy a profile page on the FUTURES website. You can visit these at futures-photography.com/artists
