PhotoIreland at Photobook Week Aarhus celebrating the 10th Anniversary

Having the great opportunity to work with Photobook Week Aarhus over the past few years, we join their 10th anniversary celebrations to launch ‘Talking About Photobooks’, which draws on the experiences and learnings of Photobook Week Aarhus, a festival dedicated for the last ten years to the photographic book as a medium of artistic production. PhotoIreland participates in the programme with a talk titled ‘Building the Museum from the Library’.

When: 1pm Saturday 26 October
Where: at Aarhus Art Academy, Vestergade 29, 8000 Aarhus, Denmark

Photobook Week Aarhus celebrate their ten year anniversary with a one-day event, marking the official book launch of their new publication Talking About Photobooks, published by Fw: Books, which collects the most important discussions about the photobook from the last ten years of our festival and presents a number of examples of significant photobooks and movements within the photobook medium.

Talking about Photobooks draws on the experiences and learnings of Photobook Week Aarhus, a small festival dedicated for the last ten years to the photographic book as a medium of artistic production. The contributions are based on artist talks, panels, keynote speeches and presentations in the framework of the festival, edited and revisited to reflect the main aspects of the photobook. The brand-new book with contributions by some of the leading experts in the field was published by Photobook Week Aarhus in collaboration with Fw:Books (Amsterdam). It was edited by Moritz Neumüller, together with Beate Cegielska, Jesper Rasmussen, and Anne Elisabeth Toft, with a superb design by Hans Gremmen and Kuan-Ting Chen.

Programme:

  • Welcome with Beate Cegielska, Director of Galleri Image
  • ‘Talking about Photobooks’ with Moritz Neumüller, chief curator and editor of Talking about Photobooks
  • ‘Talking about Talking about Photobooks’ with K.Chen, graphic designer behind Talking about Photobooks
