TLP Editions 2022

TLP Editions SetComprising already 66 publications, the TLP Editions series provides a growing collection of accessible and inexpensive publications featuring a broad variety of contemporary photographic practices. Running since 2017, PhotoIreland continues the publishing project in 2024 with a new call for proposals. The first 57 editions are presented together in an acrylic box, the TLP Editions BOX I, and there are plans to complete a second box with the next publications. These boxes are a great addition to public and university libraries, as much as public and private collections, and they help us promote artists within and outside Ireland.

The Call
We are calling all photographers and artists from, or practicing in, Ireland, to present a brief and coherent project for inclusion in the TLP Editions publication series. The series intends to highlight the variety of existing practices and interests, and there is no theme to adhere to. Proposals may include old work, archival, as much as recent or new in-development work. You may propose more than one project.

The Agreement
Selected artist contribute with their proposed images to the project, allowing for their reproduction to promote the editions, and PhotoIreland covers all production, shipping, and distribution costs, including the design. Participating artists receive copies to keep, sell, distribute, or give away. Any sales revenue generated goes exclusively into producing more editions.

Publications Specs
Each publication is limited to 200 copies, with a standard A5 size, and in one of two available formats:
– Classic: a 36 pages stapled publication, printed on 100gsm uncoated paper including the cover. The cover offers the synopsis of the project, with a maximum length of 140 words, and the back cover displays the title and artists name. The publications sell for €6 and artists receive 20 copies.
what are the roots that clutch, Dorje de Burgh– Extended: a perfect-bound publication for projects that need more room, with from 60 to 400 pages, and a different design for each book. The publications price starts at €15 and adapts to each project size, and artists receive 10 copies. There are two books in this new format, ‘what are the roots that clutch’, by Dorje de Burgh and ‘Marfa Sky’ by Helio León, with a new one by artist Sarah Navan being released soon.

They are all available online at The Library Project.

Production Process
If your work is selected, we will inform you in due time and request high resolution files to produce and propose a first design. We then will discuss the design with you and make any necessary changes. Once approved, the files will be sent to print. The production date depends on two things: your and our availability, and the publications are produced throughout 2024 and potentially into 2025.
