Guts presents a special all-female Fight Back issue in support of the Women’s Strike on March 8th!
Guts is back with a special edition to support the women taking strike action to demand the Irish government call a referendum to repeal the 8th amendment.
A dream team of women answered the call to Fight Back through illustrations and personal writings. The issue includes writings from Ivana Bacik, Una Mullally, Tara Flynn, Anna Cosgrave, Roisin Agnew, Lian Bell, Sarah Griffin, with illustrations from Laura Callaghan, Aoife Dooley, Fuchsia Macaree, Paula McGloin, Jayde Perkin, and Cesca Saunders. Designed by Lauren Kavanagh.
Quick-fire readings and an exhibition of the artwork will take place on March 7th, 6-9pm in The Library Project. Magazines and prints will be on sale and the proceeds will go to the Abortion Rights Campaign.
“We wanted to dedicate an entire issue to the bravery and fierceness of the Irish women who are fighting back on all issues that affect women’s lives –abortion rights, class, racism, gender pay gap, homophobia, social conservatism, and lack of visibility. Here at Guts the Repeal movement has been very close to our hearts and our lived experiences. It has infiltrated many of our contributors’ pieces as well as featured in our issues. The Irish government’s wilful and shameful disregard for women’s rights is something we perceive as a direct attack on all women. We hope to fight it back with our peers in a united and radical way.”
3FE and The Library Project sponsors this special issue and the launch. Join us and fight back!
