PhotoIreland travels this week to the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Centre in Budapest for the FUTURES Annual Event, alongside the five Irish artists selected for the FUTURES Platform in 2023. Our team will meet all the platform members and work together to advance the programme and policies, and will also have the opportunity to meet in person and support many other artists from the platform. Meanwhile, the Irish artists will participate in workshops and curatorial meetings with the many international professionals attending, as well as less formal networking opportunities provided by the busy programme. During the weekend, the Capa Centre will launch the exhibition ENERGY: Redistributing Power and Taming Consumption, which Irish audiences will be able to visit in Dublin in 2024.

Launch 6pm Thursday 19th October At The Library Project, 4 Temple Bar Street, D02YK53
In a world of ‘alternative facts’ and ‘cognitive dissonance’ Turner’s photographs play with the idea of information voids and misunderstandings, inviting the viewer to explore the shadows and obfuscations of a familiar, yet not quite recognisable world.
Turner’s work has a tactile, almost ethereal quality, which stems from his fastidious and experimental approach to the process of image making. These are images that are deeply ponderous in nature and often require repeated viewings which reveal the subtle details that unlock the work.

PhotoIreland presents Martin Cregg's latest body of work, The Plot. This is the sixth exhibition in the New Irish Works series.
The Plot is an exploration of the undercover Intelligence war between the IRA and British Agents which occurred within the context of the Irish War of Independence. Through a period of research, Cregg has established locations within which this, at times, invisible war unravelled—arms dumps and safe houses, locations for drilling and training, undercover munitions factories. He has photographed streets where dispatches passed hands, where agents would meet handlers and sites which were under close surveillance by one side or the other—each trying to establish enemy movements and gather vital intelligence information.
