Join the artists at the International Centre for the Image for a triple launch night! PhotoIreland presents the Irish premiere of Rhi-Entry by Rhiannon Adam and An Infinitely Dark Legacy by Lewis Bush, and Female in Focus: On the Cusp.

In 2018, Japanese billionaire and art collector Yusaku Maezawa announced a global search for eight artists to join him on a week-long lunar mission aboard SpaceX’s Starship: the first civilian mission to deep space. In 2021, Irish artist Rhiannon Adam was chosen as the only female crew member from a million applicants, with the chance to achieve the seemingly impossible, to become the first out queer woman to venture beyond the Karman line.
     However, in June 2024, Maezawa abruptly canceled the mission, leaving the crew to pick up the pieces of their disrupted lives. The work presented here blurs fact and fiction through moving images, photographs, and ephemera, reflecting on Adam’s psychological recalibration and her struggle to return to a “normal” life. This presentation stands as a shrine to lost dreams and an urgent call for alternative voices in the space industry.

An Infinitely Dark Legacy, Lewis Bush

This exhibition is based on Lewis Bush’s photographic project and book Depravity’s Rainbow. The work examines the dark origins of modern rocketry during the Second World War and charts the ways that this history continued to influence Cold War era space programs in the United States, projects on which much present day space exploration is in turn founded. Through these ideas, it examines the moral vacuum at the heart of contemporary space travel.

Bush’s work critically examines the links between technological power, state interests, and ethical concerns, reflecting his long-term focus on revealing hidden dimensions of institutional and technological influence. The exhibition challenges viewers to consider the ethical consequences of scientific progress built on morally questionable foundations.

Female in Focus

In partnership with the British Journal of Photography and Nikon, PhotoIreland presents the Female in Focus exhibition at the International Centre for the Image.
     The exhibition brings together the two series winners, Laetitia Vançon’s The Other Battlefields and Giya Makondo-Wills’ New Scramble, alongside 21 single-image winners responding to this year’s theme, On the Cusp. Together, the works explore lives and landscapes at moments of change.

HALFTONE Print Fair 2026

The 12th Edition of HALFTONE Print Fair will be hosted 28th November 2026–24th January 2027 at The Library Project.

HALFTONE is an initiative by PhotoIreland, hosted every year at The Library Project. Every edition, the fair brings together a large selection of works by established and emerging artists, showcasing Ireland’s exciting art scene. PhotoIreland has raised over €100,000 for artists through HALFTONE since 2015, supporting and promoting the practice of over 800 participating artists to date, shipping their work internationally, and contributing to public and private collections.
     Applications are now invited from fine art printers, illustrators, designers, photographers, and all visual artists and creatives to submit works produced since 2024, to be displayed and sold at the HALFTONE Print Fair.

September at The Library Project

This September, The Library Project art bookshop transforms its space to accommodate an exhibition. Bookshop visitors can still browse and shop online at thelibraryproject.ie with free collections being facilitated and international postage available.
