The programme is divided into 5 sections, with online exhibitions, panel discussions, studio visits and more, with some of these events being run privately and in support of artists and arts professionals. The structure, with links to register, is as follows:

 • The Expos
Hosted by and curated by artist, publisher and curator Salvatore Vitale, the expo RESET investigates the main theme with projects by seven artists from the platform: Julie Poly, Ela Polkowska, Sanne De Wilde, Dávid Biró, Ana Zibelnik, and Irish artists Eva O'Leary and Garry Loughlin. The expos are hosted online by Fotomat, and a link will be made available here from the 5th to the 31st of October.

 • The Assembly
A series of talks organised by the platform members where art professionals converse around topics related to the main theme RESET. The assemblies take place online every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 3pm Irish time. The talk ASSEMBLY #2 'On Adaptation and Production' has been organised by PhotoIreland, and it presented Lewis Bush (artist, educator) and Aisling Murray (Exhibitions Manager, Science Gallery Dublin) in conversation.  • The Conversations
Over 50 international professionals have the chance to meet our talents for a series of portfolio reviews and coaching sessions. These meetings take place once a week during the month of October, in a private and online environment. The list of professionals is online here.

 • The Open Mic
The Open Mic is a private activity, when our talents can present their ongoing projects in an online space with artists and other professionals from the industry. Amongst others selected, Irish artist Vera Ryklova will benefit from this session.

 • The Studio Visit
The Studio Visit programme is an online activity organised by Futures and curated by Marina Paulenka (Co-Founder of Organ Vida Festival and former Artistic Director of Unseen). On Fridays, she presents a virtual online tour of artists studios, talking about their inspirations, creative process, and ongoing projects. This activity is mainly exclusive to invited professionals and guests. The private sessions will include Irish artist Shia Conlon. As an exception, the studio visit on October 30th will be open to the public from 3pm Irish time via Zoom and Facebook live-stream. For this event, Paulenka sees Charlotte Schmitz, Karolina Wojtas and Ulla Deventer.

at The Library Project

These five Irish artists were selected by PhotoIreland to join the FUTURES platform in 2020 to represent Ireland.

At The Library Project

HALFTONE is an initiative by PhotoIreland, hosted every year at The Library Project, bringing together a large selection of works by established and emerging artists, showcasing and supporting Ireland’s exciting Art scene. Artworks start at €20, the Print Fair has a print for every taste, wall, space, and pocket!

Extending its celebration of the printed matter, last year, we introduced a new event to celebrate the book. Returning for its second year, Tsundoku offers visitors a week of special presentations (5-22 November), which will see an exclusive exhibition of two Photobook awards—Kassel Dummy Award and Australia & New Zealand Photo Book Award.

Access to these events will be determined by the current government regulations and we will keep you updated via our website, social media, and newsletters.

PhotoIreland_Festival_2021 ‌

PhotoIreland Festival invites national and international artists and practitioners, including writers, researchers, curators, emerging and established, to propose works to be part of PhotoIreland Festival 2021, joining invited practitioners. Submissions and proposals are invited on the general topic of Food and the Politics of Food.

We welcome proposals for:

  • Lens-based artistic work and curatorial projects
  • Events, including proposals for critically engaged food presentations
  • Workshops, talks, and participative events
  • Scientific research and relevant texts

OVER Journal Call

OVER Journal Triple Call

The editorial team and peer review panel of OVER Journal, welcomes submissions of:

- Papers: essays by any individuals or collaborators engaged in critical and cultural inquiry that address key issues around Photography and Visual Culture, including those deriving from other disciplines and interests.
Deadline 30th September passed, next deadline Feb 2021.

- Articles or Interviews: whether at proposal stage or completed, by individuals or collaborators including journalists, writers, researchers, artists, curators, and other professionals such as designers, architects, urban planners, community activists, etc. whose critical practice is connected with issues of social change.

- Works: Artistic projects by creatives, photographers, visual artists, curators, researchers, thinkers, and any individuals working in and around contemporary image-based practices.

Submissions of Papers are accepted twice a year, and only between 1-28 February and 1-31st August. However, as an exception, in 2020 we are accepting submissions between 1-31 September (deadline passed!).

Submissions of Articles or Interviews, and Works are open from now on and ongoing without deadline.

Submissions are free and we pay fees to all contributors.
