Running: 11th Sep-23rd Dec Location: International Centre for the Image Members Only Exhibition Tour 12pm Sat 24th October In 2018, Japanese billionaire and art collector Yusaku Maezawa announced a global search for eight artists to join him on a week-long lunar mission aboard SpaceX’s Starship: the first civilian mission to deep space. In 2021, Irish artist Rhiannon Adam was chosen as the only female crew member from a million applicants, with the chance to achieve the seemingly impossible, to become the first out queer woman to venture beyond the Karman line. However, in June 2024, Maezawa abruptly canceled the mission, leaving the crew to pick up the pieces of their disrupted lives. The work presented here blurs fact and fiction through moving images, photographs, and ephemera, reflecting on Adam’s psychological recalibration and her struggle to return to a “normal” life. This presentation stands as a shrine to lost dreams and an urgent call for alternative voices in the space industry.

Running: 11th Sep-23rd Dec Location: International Centre for the Image Members Only Exhibition Tour 12pm Sat 24th October This exhibition is based on Lewis Bush’s photographic project and book Depravity’s Rainbow. The work examines the dark origins of modern rocketry during the Second World War and charts the ways that this history continued to influence Cold War era space programs in the United States, projects on which much present day space exploration is in turn founded. Through these ideas, it examines the moral vacuum at the heart of contemporary space travel. Bush’s work critically examines the links between technological power, state interests, and ethical concerns, reflecting his long-term focus on revealing hidden dimensions of institutional and technological influence. The exhibition challenges viewers to consider the ethical consequences of scientific progress built on morally questionable foundations.

Join artist Gary Farrelly and the Department of Ultimology (Fiona Hallinan, Kate Strain) to celebrate the launch of Self-Institution/ Terminology Audit. Self-Institution/ Terminology Audit (Set Margins’) is a collection of profiles and lexicons documenting artistic practices that operate as self-declared institutions. It examines the act of self-institution as both a conceptual and operational approach, focusing on how these practices structure themselves and engage with their contexts.

The 12th Edition of HALFTONE Print Fair will be hosted 28th November 2026–24th January 2027 at The Library Project.
HALFTONE is an initiative by PhotoIreland, hosted every year at The Library Project. Every edition, the fair brings together a large selection of works by established and emerging artists, showcasing Ireland’s exciting art scene. PhotoIreland has raised over €100,000 for artists through HALFTONE since 2015, supporting and promoting the practice of over 800 participating artists to date, shipping their work internationally, and contributing to public and private collections. Applications are now invited from fine art printers, illustrators, designers, photographers, and all visual artists and creatives to submit works produced since 2024, to be displayed and sold at the HALFTONE Print Fair.

PhotoIreland grows the reputation of Irish artists globally through a 360 degree support system and platform for contemporary photography, activated through a diversity of projects. These include events such as PhotoIreland Festival and Halftone print fair amongst others; resources such as the PhotoIreland Collection, a specialised research library of photobooks, and Ireland’s Art Bookshop, The Library Project; via publishing with projects such as OVER Journal and TLP Editions; professional development support through networking and consultancy opportunities; and empowering early and mid-career photographers via our international partnerships, most relevantly through Creative Europe co-funded platforms such as FUTURES and Parallel. In 2025, PhotoIreland launched the International Centre for the Image, Ireland's innovative cultural venue situated in the Dublin Docklands, with a focus on photography and the visual arts.
