Last week, the Arts Council opened a new revenue stream titled Arts Council COVID-19 Crisis Response Award aimed at artists to provide access for the public to new and original art. With a deadline set as 16th April, interested artists have now 8 days left. Although we are very disappointed with the lack of commitment and genuine support to the Arts in Ireland, we recognise that some artists are in a tough financial position and they will need to apply - as it may be their only opportunity to receive financial support. PhotoIreland continues its commitment to supporting Visual Artists and especially now in these critical times. From now until 16 April we are offering artists: - Free online consultancy session in support of their finished application
- Free advice on best practice for online content, based on your project idea
- Free online advice on best resources to complete the project (hosting, domain, CMS, Social Media platforms, etc)
These services will be made available via Skype, following a booking on this page, on a first come first served basis. We have made available 8 1-hour sessions from the 6th to the 15th April. It is essential that artists approach this service with a defined project or first draft applications, not merely to tease out ideas.
Follow the link to find out more about this and other services PhotoIreland can provide for your application and beyond, as well as our stance on the recent announcements made by the Arts Council and Department of Culture, Heritage and Gaeltacht.

Our work during the crisis
PhotoIreland continues working as hard as always behind closed doors. We are currently reworking our plans for PhotoIreland Festival 2020, in anticipation of changes and the uncertainty of the current situation. We continue meeting our European partners, furthering our work with the two EU Photographic Platforms, Parallel and Futures. We continue also our conversations with individuals and organisations planning programmes running 2021-2025. Adapting to what is possible, our calendar of events is being rescheduled, but thankfully all upcoming events won't be cancelled, just postponed and reshaped.
The Library Project remains closed until further notice, though we continue to accept and process orders, slowly but surely - so don't be afraid to shop online at tlp.photoireland.org Your support is crucial at this time for independent businesses and very much appreciated.

The 100 Views of Contemporary Ireland postcards have been received exceptionally well, perhaps as they are an excellent way of escaping the daily monotony without leaving your home. The postcards are only available online at The Library Project, and can be bought individually or as a complete set. Although not as frequent as usual, we continue posting orders, so go get yours and send a postcard to a loved one!
The project celebrates a discipline that has also undergone its own radical transformation in the last few years; it highlights the growing number of artists providing us with excellent work, and it underlines the role of PhotoIreland in contributing to a healthy ecosystem in Photography in Ireland. The images have been kindly donated by the artists in support of The Library Project space and are available to purchase as postcards. PhotoIreland thanks all the participating artists for their kind support.
