PhotoIreland is collaborating with British Journal of Photography on the sixth edition of Female in Focus photographic award. An international jury will select 20 single images and two bodies of work, which will be exhibited in a group show in Dublin with PhotoIreland and 10-14 Gallery in London.
For this edition of the award, photographers are invited to respond to the theme of ‘On the Cusp’. This theme looks at both personal and international turning points, whether that be moments of revolution, revelation, or transformation. It considers ideas such as ageing, climate change, rapid developments in technology, and political shifts. The anticipation of what comes next.
Photographers located in non-high-income countries can apply to Female in Focus for free.
Deadline to submit: 6 November 2025

Pre-orders are now open for OVER Journal 4, launching and shipping from 3rd October.
OVER journal critically focuses on aspects often overlooked that affect the discipline, zooming out to observe the whole scene, to analyse what exactly is happening, what power relationships are at play. It is about preventing the repetition of obsolete and flawed structures, as much as highlighting the work of those who constructively are expanding what we still call Photography into new horizons. More than a portfolio magazine, it is a space for reflection on new practices and new ways of thinking.
Cover Image: Still from 'Uncensored Lilac' (2024), by Bassam Issa Al-Sabah and Jennifer Mehigan.
