PhotoIreland has opened the call for artists to join the FUTURES platform in 2023, co-funded by Creative Europe. The opportunity is free and open to artists based on the island of Ireland, and those Irish artists practicing abroad, working broadly in photography at any level, who feel their practice is at a suitable stage to avail of this opportunity. We are looking for artists regardless of CV or experience, but we want to see dedication and serious intention to practice. Deadline: midnight Sunday 1st January 2023

Launch 6pm Sat 10 December At The Library Project, 4 Temple Bar Street, D02YK53
Hunt the Wren is Andrew Nuding's first photobook, exploring the bizarre and absurd in rural Irish festivals. The photobook focuses on the ritualistic practices, costumes and performances of two yearly events, presented in documentary style and also through scenes staged by the photographer in studio.

In 2018 and 2019 Helio León was invited to Marfa, Texas, by Marfa Open Arts Festival. This work is the result of his stay. These photographs reveal a fascination with Americana, capturing the colours of the Texan landscape, the wide open skies and neon lights. They showcase a personal exploration, engaging intimately with local people, artists, and visitors that bring life to Marfa; fleeting moments of a cinematic fiction where reality becomes mythical.

With new titles added daily, December is a joy for the book lover as much as for those looking for gifts this season. The growing stock is carefully selected from relevant publishers, artists, and art organisations around the world, presenting a diversity of current titles going from Architecture and Design to critical theory and kids books, and, of course, the best photobooks. For visual culture and critical thinking, don't miss a visit to Ireland's Art Bookshop, The Library Project, whether in person (some fabulous tunes going too!) or online!
