PhotoIreland launches the 8th FUTURES Talent Call for artists with the deadline set for 6pm Sunday 15th December 2024.
         The submission to this opportunity organised by PhotoIreland as the Irish member of the FUTURES Photography Platform is open and free to artists based in Ireland and, for the first time, also to those in the UK, as much as those Irish and UK artists practicing abroad. The call is for artists working in photography and its expanded practice at any level, who feel their practice is at a suitable stage to avail of this opportunity.

Artists Antonio Guerra, Dávid Biró, Hiền Hoàng, Marta Pinto Machado, Tanja Engelberts, Umberto Diecinove, Yana Kononova, and Yana Wernicke.

Visitors have until the 10th November to enjoy the FUTURES Photography Platform exhibition titled ENERGY: Redistributing Power and Taming Consumption, an international group exhibition presenting an anthology of diverse photographic projects focusing on various aspects of energy.
          The show comprises work by eight international artists from the FUTURES Photography Platform, of which PhotoIreland is the Irish representative, and it was
curated by Ángel Luis González and Julia Gelezova (PhotoIreland), with the support of Emese Mucsi (Capa Center) and Daria Tuminas (FOTODOK).

HALFTONE is an initiative by PhotoIreland hosted every year at The Library Project. In this 10th edition, the fair brings together a large selection of works by established and emerging artists, showcasing Ireland’s exciting Art scene. Come and enjoy a great selection of over 185 artworks from 72 contemporary artists from many disciplines and practices including etchings, intaglios, reliefs, screenprints, monotypes, risographs, photographs and more!

With your help, HALFTONE has raised over €87,000 for artists since 2015, supporting and promoting the practice of over 800 participating artists to date, shipping their work internationally, and contributing to public and private collections.

The position will run for the busy Christmas period. PhotoIreland secures its partnership with the FUTURES Photography Platform until 2028

It is with great pleasure that we share the news that the FUTURES foundation has been selected by the European Commission as a beneficiary of the Platform programme for the period 2025-2028. This means PhotoIreland will be able to continue serving Irish artists through the platform and the diversity of international partnerships for over a decade, having been a founding FUTURES member, bringing Irish talent to Europe and international practices and ideas to Ireland since 2017

PhotoIreland has nominated 35 Irish artists to date who had the opportunity to participate in international trips, networking events, exhibitions, portfolio reviews, and mentoring sessions with the platform’s international colleagues.

We are looking forward to joining ‘MacGuffin: The Life of Things in conversation’ presented and organised by Neighbrhd for Irish Design Week! The Library Project will be at the event selling copies of the latest MacGuffin Magazine which is also currently available at thelibraryproject.ie and in-store.
          Widely recognised as a fabulously designed and immaculately researched design and crafts biannual, it is an indispensable resource for all those who want backstage information about the life of things. With each issue based around a single object, MacGuffin magazine is a platform for fans of inspiring, personal, unexpected, highly familiar or utterly disregarded things.
          Founders, editors-in-chief and art director Kirsten Algera & Ernst van der Hoeven will join Michael McDermott, director of the Liberties Festival (former editor of Totally Dublin) to discuss its evolution and how they have crafted the art of compelling storytelling, encompassing objects such as the ball, the sink and the log.

Ireland Prints for Peace launches new sale

Launched successfully by a group of Irish photographers last year, Ireland Prints for Peace returns for a new print sale to support MAP & UNRWA in Palestine.
          The new sale runs between 23 October and 20 November. The prints are available in A3 and A4 sizes in open editions.
